Community members from Group Village Headman Kapandajuwa Chiwambo in Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba district had all the reasons to smile and celebrate following the hand-over of the multipurpose hall by Ungweru Organization to the community. The ceremony took place on 8th April 2017 at Msiki area. The hall was constructed with financial support from Misean Cara in Ireland The idea to construct a multipurpose hall was conceived by the community members, especially, members of the AIDS Support Group. Previously, members had no defined and dignified meeting place where they could shares experiences and support each other socioeconomically and psychologically.
“We are grateful to Ungweru Organization for this magnificent gift in our community. Apart from being a meeting place for the AIDS Support Group, the hall will also be used as a Community Based Childcare Centre to promote early childhood development. We commit that the building will be well maintained and continue to serve the purpose it has been constructed for,” remarked Sub-Traditional Authority Yohane Jere on behalf of the community.
The hall was built to the tune of €10,861.00 and community members contributed 25% towards construction of the same through donation of land, molding of bricks and mobilization of sand. Ungweru Organization is confident that the construction of this hall will significantly contribute to the well-being of community members in the area.
