Learners from Kaswiti Primary School in Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba district had all the reasons to smile and celebrate following the hand-over of 100 desks and 8 toilets to the school authorities by Ungweru Organization. All this has been possible with support from the Irish Embassy in Malawi. According to the school headmaster, Mr. Mtonga, the school has been operational for more than 10 years but without a single desk and only two functional pit latrines. Poor learning environment, poor and hygiene are some of factors affecting quality delivery of education services in schools.

The donation of 100 desks and 8 pit latrines will go a long way to improve quality of education at the school. The availability of 8 additional toilets will significantly improve the learner to toilet ratio thereby reducing the risk of the leaners to contract life threatening diseases such as cholera and diarrhea. The desks will improve the learning environment and provide the much needed comfort for learners in a classroom setting. Ultimately, these donations will contribute to the improvement of quality of education at Kaswiti Primary School.

Ungweru Organization is grateful to Irish Embassy in Malawi for partnering with us to contribute towards ensuring that girls and boys at Kaswiti Primary School are educated for life.
